A House of Consultants

Experienced practitioners, ready to pass on what they know

Imagine Consultants is a small group of senior people from business, education and local government — brought together to share hard-won expertise with the organisations that need it.

Our Ethos

A consultancy built to pass on expertise

Most consultancies sell hours. We set out to do something a little different — to build a house of experienced practitioners whose purpose is to pass on knowledge.

Each of us has done the job. We've founded and grown businesses, led schools and multi-academy trusts, and worked inside local authorities. We know what it's like to carry the responsibility, make the hard calls and live with the results — and that's exactly the experience we bring to your organisation.

We don't believe in creating dependency. Our aim is to share what we know, build your capability, and leave you stronger. Executive-level expertise without executive-level overhead.

Three Disciplines, One Roof

The expertise in the house

Our consultants span three connected disciplines. Most organisations need one; many benefit from the way we join them up.

Business

Seasoned operators who have founded, grown and led companies — bringing real-world experience in strategy, finance, operations, marketing and growth.

  • Growth strategy & scaling
  • Finance, cash flow & funding
  • Operations & efficiency
  • Marketing, brand & digital
  • Leadership & team development
  • Fractional executive roles (CEO, CFO, COO, CMO)

Education

Leaders who have run schools and multi-academy trusts, and understand the realities of the classroom, the back office and the boardroom.

  • IT & digital strategy for schools
  • DfE digital & technology standards
  • Cyber security & compliance
  • Technology spend reviews
  • Safe AI adoption in education
  • Governance & operational support

Local Authority & Public Sector

Practitioners who have worked inside local government and the public sector — bridging the worlds of business, education and civic priorities.

  • Economic development & skills
  • Linking education, business & community
  • Funding & regeneration thinking
  • Partnership & stakeholder working
  • Social enterprise & CIC support
  • Public-sector digital & transformation
Why It Works

Business, education and local government are connected

The thread that runs through everything we do is the link between these three worlds. Education builds the skills and talent pipeline. Business creates the opportunities, jobs and investment. Local authorities set the strategy and connect the two. When you understand all three, your advice is sharper — because it reflects the real world your organisation operates in, not a single silo.

It's a perspective we bring to a school thinking commercially, a business engaging with its community, or a social enterprise balancing mission and money. The leadership your business needs, exactly when you need it.

FAQs

About our consultants

What do you mean by a 'house of consultants'?

Imagine Consultants is a small, carefully-chosen group of experienced practitioners rather than a single consultant or a large agency. We span three disciplines — business, education, and local authority and public sector — and bring the right person, or combination of people, to each challenge.

Who are your consultants?

Our consultants are senior practitioners who have actually done the jobs they advise on — led businesses, run schools and trusts, and worked inside local government. We introduce the right individual for your needs at the discovery stage.

What makes you different from a normal consultancy?

Two things. First, we're practitioners, not career consultants — we've been in the roles we advise on. Second, our purpose is to pass on expertise and build your capability, sharing knowledge rather than simply selling hours.

Why do the three disciplines matter together?

Because the real world isn't siloed. Education, business and local government are deeply connected — skills, jobs, investment and community all depend on each other. Having all three under one roof means our advice reflects that bigger picture.

Can I work with more than one consultant?

Yes. When a challenge spans disciplines — say an education organisation needing commercial thinking, or a business wanting to engage with the public sector — we bring more than one practitioner and work as one team.

Do you only work in Greater Manchester?

We're rooted in Greater Manchester and the North West, where our networks run deepest, but we work with organisations across England by agreement, combining on-site visits with remote delivery.

How do I find the right consultant for my needs?

Start with a free discovery call. We'll understand your situation and match you with the right practitioner — or combination — from the house.
